The official Australian Rally Championship website has spoken to Mick about his recent victory at the first round of the championship, the QUIT Forest Rally, they spoke about the switch from running your own car to driving a prepared car from someone else, as well as his focus for the rest of the year.
“It was an absolutely amazing weekend, I had a smile on my face from start to finish!” said an ecstatic Patton after claiming victory in the Australian 4WD category in Western Australia.

Repco Rally Team Principal Mick Patton has recently revealed on rally.com.au that for the opening Round of the season, the Quit Forest Rally he will pilot a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X as he looks to maximize the amount of fun from his rallyingin 2015.
“Shipping a car and team to the first Round in Western Australia is always a large undertaking so when the option to drive a WA based car appeared it quickly became the obvious choice,” said Mick.
Mick and co-driver Bernie Webb will pilot the Evo X prepared by Perth based Race Torque Engineering, similar to that driven by Mark Pedder during last year’s Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
Patton said, “it would be exciting to drive the Mitsubishi in WA but it would also be his first time rallying that brand of car.”

Going in to the National Capital Rally which was the first round of the Australian Rally Championship for 2014, the team had spent considerable time in the off season developing a new engine package for the VW Polo, however due to time constraints the new engine had not been tested, this however was not going to be the test for the weekend, Canberra is known for its varying conditions resulting from the ever changing weather which have been known to cause chaos, the 2014 National Capital Rally was no different.
